Unique Marketing Holidays (EOC)

2015 Calendar Showing Future Target Business PlanHolidays are a great time to offer savings to your customers and clients. The problem is… there are only 10 Federal holidays throughout the entire year. But did you now there are a huge amount of “Marketing Holidays”, many of which I am certain you have never heard of, that can offer you an opportunity to get to know your customer better, make them a really “special offer” or just provide them with some information they may need?

A Marketing Holiday, is a day, week and many times an entire month dedicated to a specific topic that organizations, our government and businesses can bring to the “top of mind” of the community, their clients or customers and get them talking about it, promoting it, supporting it or purchasing products or services for it.

For instance a perfect example of a non-profit organization creating a special month for their cause is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month. The Arthritis National Research Foundation funds arthritis research to find a cure for arthritis, but it is also a children’s charity. By supporting arthritis research specific to juvenile arthritis every year, we hope to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of kids dealing with arthritis.

Another example in July is Family Golf Month. Nearly 2,100 facilities are registered to host Family Golf Month events, including Family Golf Clinics and Play Days, Kids Play Free, Bring Your Kids to the Range, Take Your Daughter to the Course Week (July 4-10) and special junior rates, as well as a variety of other events and activities which can be found at PlayGolfAmerica.com.

And then you have holidays like: Day of the Knife starting on July 25 and running through August 22nd you can win big from Buck Knives and Cabela’s by telling “Your Knife Story.” Upload a photo and write a true story about when your knife came to your rescue, a humorous incident or any other “slice” of life in the outdoors. They’ll pick the top stories and have you vote on your favorite in August. Deadline to submit is August 14! The Day of the Knife Grand Prize is worth over $4,000.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for you to honor an awareness day, week or an entire month and connect better with you customers or make them one sharp (no pun intended) deal that they can’t resist.

July seems to have more than it’s fair share of “Marketing Holidays”, over 150 (probably more, I just didn’t want to look up any more when I got to that number). It’s the National month of Black Family, Blueberries, Hot Dog, Ice Cream, Horseradish and Grilling Month and Women’s Motorcycle Month to name just a few. There are National Baby Food Week, Parenting Gifted Child Week and Garlic Days… not to mention specific days like Chocolate Day, National French Fries Day, National Chili Dog Day and Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day.

Here are some of the best and most unique marketing holidays we found. Let your imagination run wild and see what you come up with to get more customers.
