• Final CAC Fall Registration Event Scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15 Throughout Pinal County

    PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – Students have until Saturday, Aug. 15, to register for the fall 2015 semester at Central Arizona College.

    Special registration hours will be held throughout the district at the college’s Aravaipa, Maricopa, Signal Peak, San Tan and Superstition Mountain campuses on Saturday, August 15 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

    The College’s Corporate Center, located in Casa Grande will be open Friday, August 14 from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 15 from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m.

    Central Arizona College implemented On Time Registration to assist students in preparing to be more successful in the classroom. Students will only be permitted to enroll in a class that has not already met. Starting with classes that begin after 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 16, students will not be allowed to register for courses that have already started.

    For students registering using CAC’s online student services, open classes will be available for enrollment until midnight prior to the first day of the semester. After that, students must register in-person and must do so prior to the first meeting of the class.

    Services that will be available on Saturday, Aug. 15 at all campus locations include:

    • Advising
    • Cashier
    • Financial Aid
    • Registration

    The CAC Bookstore also will be open at all campus locations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15.

    CAC’s regular business hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Online services are available 24/7 for registration, financial aid, tutoring and the library.

    GWCC-WRT-Guanajuato-1It all started with Mario Castaneda and University of Guanajuato professors Javier Rubio Velasquez and Gilberto Carreño Aguilera. The three had the common interest of finding solutions to problems such as a lack of groundwater, which is the main water problem in Guanajuato, says Carreño, “We don’t have much water in Guanajuato.”

    Together, they began a program with the objective of teaching, as well as learning from each other, water resources engineering with the first class of students participating in Fall 2013. The collaboration has included trips to Phoenix for the professors and students. The most recent trip took place in June 2015 where the students and Carreño, a chemistry professor, spent a week at GateWay Community College with Castaneda. [Read More…]

  • Ophthalmic Assistant Program Receives International Accreditation (EOC)

    OAMaricopa Skill Center (MSC) recently received accreditation from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).

    MSC is the only school in Arizona to offer an Ophthalmic Assistant program. The accreditation is valid for three years and allows MSC students and alumni of the program to sit for their Certified Ophthalmic Assistant exam after working in the industry for 500 hours.

    “We are excited to receive the accreditation,” MSC Assistant Executive Director CJ Wurster said. “The accreditation validates the credibility of our program and the need present in the industry for a program like ours.” [Read More…]
